PSYCHOTHERAPY: I provide individual psychotherapy to adolescents and adults. I take an active role in the room and create a safe and non-judgmental environment for you to explore any issues you need to work on. I am trained in psychoanalysis and psychoanalytic psychotherapy, which focuses on connecting present day difficulties and maladaptive patterns of behavior with experiences from your past. In addition to this training, I utilize a myriad of therapeutic approaches tailored to your presenting material. For this service we would meet once or twice per week for 45-minute appointments.
COUPLES: I meet with couples to help work on resolving problems and conflicts that you have not been able to handle effectively on your own. This involves many topics such as sex, parenting, communication styles and managing lifestyle conflicts. The aim is to get a better understanding of yourself as well as your partner and to decide if you need or want to make changes, and if so, how to do so. I usually act as a mediator, helping to clear up misunderstandings in communication. For this service, we would meet once a week for 60-minute appointments.
For both individuals and couples, when issues present such as with addiction or situations causing significant disruption in your general functioning, I often request to meet more than once a week until your symptoms stabilize.
SUPERVISION: I am a professor in the Graduate School of Social Work at New York University and have provided supervision to MSW's for over twenty years.
